The Deck
The Deck is one of
the most recognized "good decks" from the early days of
magic. The main
idea is to maintain almost complete control of the game until
it can win using
Serra Angel, Fireball, Mishra's Factory or Millstone. The Deck
usually runs between two and five winconditions, most of the restricted cards in
the format and four to five colors.

MonoBlue aggro
MonoBlue Aggro
combines fairly undercosted creatures with card advantage
and cheap
counters. Bounce and control effects clear the path for juggernauts
and factories, and
a set of six Lord of Atlantis (with the 2 clones) makes a
quick clock for
any opponent running blue, which usually means more than
half the field.

UWB Skies
UWB Skies combines
some of the best creatures in the format with effective
spotremoval, some
sweepers and lots of power. It is a creature deck that
itself can run
Moat and wraths to full effect since all the creatures flies and
most of them are
big enough to win the game on their own.

URG Zoo
URG Zoo won worlds
2010 and has since placed in top4 in the following two
tournaments it was
played in. It is simply an insanely aggressive deck that can
win out of nowhere
using Berserks, bolts and Giant Growths. It also runs two
of the most
aggressive 4-drops in the format for midgame and a sideboard with
7 blasts and a
possibility to board in a fourth color to gain access to swords
and Disenchants.

WW
White Weenie is
possibly the cheapest of the competitive decks, it works
decently with few
to no power and most cards are fairly common or are
printed in UNL.
This deck has placed in top4 in each of the six tournaments
it has played in,
maybe due to access to a full set of both Disenchant and
swords. Since the
deck can survive and cast most of its spells with only two
mana, Armageddon
can simply win the game with or without Land Tax in
play. This is also
one of the few decks that can run City in a Bottle in main.

Monoblack
A turn one
Hypnotic or Juzam can easily end the game then and there.
Monoblack backs
this up with card advantage, land destruction and range.
Full playsets of
both Sinkhole and Underworld Dreams makes this deck far
from an obvious
matchup for the control decks, and the big and fast creatures
can run over any
opponent not using solid removal or countermagic.

Land of the Lich
Land of the Lich
combines strong control elements with lots of card advantage,
life gain, and
combo wins out of nowhere. It can draw it's entire deck using
Lich and then win
with Land's Edge, or it can simply use Mirror Universe as
a win condition.
Post board it can transform into a tempo based aggro-control
when the opponent
has sided out creature removal.

TaxEdge
Tax Edge uses the
synergy between Land Tax and spells like Armageddon,
Wind's of Change
and Land's Edge. This version opts to use creatures to deal
incremental damage
if the burn doesn't go all the way, and can side out the
world enchantments
and go for creature beatdown against control decks.

Parfait
This powerful
prison deck won the 34-person tournament at n00bcon IV.
Full playsets of
Howling Mine and Relic Barrier gives a steady card
advantage, while
the other lock components makes the opponent unable
to play his game.
Note the singleton Mana Drain and the very well
positioned
sideboard with additional Underworld Dreams.

Erhnam Burn'em
Ehrhnam Burn'em is
the old school equivalent of RG beats. It is similar to
RUG zoo, but cuts
blue to support Ball Lightning, more burn (channel/fireball)
and 4 Blood Moon
in the sideboard to deal with control decks. It placed
second in worlds
2010.

Good Stuff Mud
This deck shows
clearly why Mishra's Workshop needs to be restricted. It
plays large and
cheap artifact creatures and backs them up with most of the
restricted list
and disks. The disk combos well with Hurkyl's Recall and
Guardian Beast,
and Su-Chi kills anything south of Juzam and Erhnam in
combat. The
sideboard isn't complete, but I recall a copy or two of The
Abyss in there as
well.

Colossus Control
This insane combo
deck won the 2011 world championship. The goal is to drop
Sylvan Library
turn 2, then use millstone on one's own deck until a few
colossi has hit
the bin. A resolved All Hallow's Eve then gets you a small
army of 9/9's
which ends the game quickly. In order to maximize the chance to
have green mana
turn two it runs more duals and less moxen. After sideboard it
can transform
almost completely to a version of The Deck with the Millstones
as win conditions.

Erhnamgeddon
Ehrnamgeddon is
another classic list from the old days of magic. The goal is to
drop a creature to
large to handle with only a few mana, and then resolve an
Armaggedon. Cheap
and efficient weenies and Land Tax also combine very
well with the
sorcery. If the geddon plan doesn't pan out, this deck can
usually win using
the raw power of Ehrnam Djinn and Serra Angel backed
up by removal.
